Been a while since I used that, but if I remember correctly it worked as expected when I did use it, but will try it out next week to be sure.
What version of opencats are you using and are you using the file caines uploaded?

I did see that you could try tls and see if that makes a difference, if that doesn't work I would try different combinations of ssl / tls with authentication set as 'true' too
Try SMTP email option
ALso change host (local host) to the server address you have in the user field then enter your email address into the user field.
