Opencats does not support php 7 yet. You would have to downgrade php on your system to php 5.6. No coded changes required.
I believe there are ways to run them side by side, but I'm not sure how of the top of my head.

I'm not aware of anything like this. If you put something together please share it. There's a lot of folks using shared-hosting. I'm sure it could be tweaked and used.
