may be a php version issue - what version are you running? The installer will generally run some checks - but if php-soap is inthere and working you may find continuing the installation will work just fine. Running the app on Centos just fine...

if you were asking about sphinx on Linux/Unix I'd be able to pitch in, but I have no ideas on windows (!). If you do find some solution to your problem, then please update the wiki with your findings.. seem to get allot of guys running the app on windows here!
