Query Error -- Please Report This Bug!

MySQL Query Failed: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SET SQL_MODE=''*/;

/*!40101 SET @OLD_SQL_MODE=@@SQL_MODE, SQL_MODE='NO_AUTO_V' at line 10

/*
SQLyog Enterprise - MySQL GUI v8.02 RC
MySQL - 5.1.31-community : Database - cats_dev

*/
This happens when I clone the repo, and try to clean install (including composer install).

I've used the recent XAMPP (5.6.30) distribution with PHP5.6. And I've also tried using a VM (Laravel/Homestead) with PHP5.6 (https://github.com/gjrdiesel/homestead56)

But it's not the case when I download one of the releases. Is there anything I'm missing?
