Licenses and other questions...

Hello,

I have a cllient who is looking for an ATS and i am thinking of using OpenCats.

I have installed it on a temporary Server(OneandOne) and it seems fine.
I will do without all the goodies of resume parsing, etc...

Do I have the right to install this product on the client's website and be paid as a consultant for my work?
I am not very familiar with licensing issues...

Also, my client needs multi language suppost for his career portal page.

He can work in english for the rest of the module but needs to have the career portal available in English or French.

Can this be done?

Many thanks...

No i dont think you can charge for installation etc of the software...
But you probably can charge consultancy for your expert opinion in their selecting of the software, and for development of a website based alongside it

Yes, I was thinking of consulting fees and not charging for the software itself. Thanks....

I still have a major issue with language support...

The career portal page needs to be available in either english or french and i can't seem to be able to figure out how to do this.

I have searched this forum, I think i will be able to translate the page careersUI in french but how do I make it that the software chooses one or the other depending on language?

Is there a way to create 2 different templates for the career page and be able to switch "dynamicaly". In other words, set the active template
through code.

Also there is an issue with the job postings.
Short of creating a "bilingual post" I do not see a solution. Furthermore what about the questionaire?
Dynamicaly assign the proper questionaire for the same post depending on the language?

Rushh? are you out there ? Help ..

Thanks...

You are allowed to charge for installation and set up. What you are not allowed to do is charge for hosting it (Setting it up on your server, or any server, and charging a monthly fee, or annual fee or something of that sort).

Hey guys,

what you're not allowed to do is to offer it as a service i.e.. complete in the 'Software as a Service' arena..

So I believe you can charge people to install it, support it, but you can't have a multi-tenanted service running on your server that you sell to people...

Multilingual.. now, there was a add-on that allowed cats to be multi-lingual;
http://www.opencats.org/documentation/M ... al_version
...but it appears to have gone, and he never gave me permission to rehost it on the opencats server.

..and I believe OSATS v1.02 has that capability but I haven't touched them much... I think as per my recent post to cprt13, I'll get a maintenance release rolled up for 0.9.2 and see if we can start OSATS again from scratch. If you're really keen I can tell you that the guy who put the multi-lingual capabilities into OSATS 1.02 was alquanto

Hey Russh, thanks for the response.

Yes I have tried to look at the Add-On that was created but the link is broken.
I would of loved to have a look at that...Any way for you to pass it on or ask permission of the creator?

I tried to get the version of OSATS, but i can t seem to be able to connect to your subversion link. I have installed tortoise ...

That bilingual stuff is absolutly a requirement for the client so i am stuck with that!
Like i said it is only for the career portal. The admin part of it is fine the way it is.

I am a developer(VB6), but not familiar at all with web technologies. My knowledge of php, although growing, is very limited!

I have no idea what Jomla is, but the idea that i could use it to create from scratch the career portal using the cats Data is very interesting to me.
I am not sure i can do this though in the context of this contract assignment.

I was successfull, I think in installing your jomla package on my local web serveR, but ended up messing with some stuff and scraped the whole thing including
my original Opencats installation. I will have to redo the whole thing today.

In any case, I am kinda stuck...

Could you address the issues that i have raised in my previous post on how to have 2 different templates for the career portal and chose the proper one according to language?

Many thanks,

Alain

Hi Alain,

I need to update the wiki, we've moved svn server as the old one was unreliable. We're now hosted at assembla here;

http://code.assembla.com/opencats/subversion/nodes

read access can download the code - you need to request write access to push any commits..
