I just install my opencats (latest version: 9.5-3) and got http error 500 ... gulp

PHP Version 5.6.40-38+ubuntu16.04.1+deb.sury.org+1
Apache/2.4.46 (Ubuntu)

I was trying to leave the PHP version to be 5.6 to be backward compatible with some custom stuff... Do I need to upgrade to PHP 7?
