Hi,
how does the "contains" filter exactly work in filtering.
For example if i have the string "User experience" and im filtering the "notes" field with it.

Will it only find the notes with the entire string "User experience" or with either "user" or "experience" or both.

In most basic implementations, using a "contains" filter with the string "User experience" will look for notes that include the entire substring "User experience" as it is. It won't automatically find notes with just "user" or "experience" unless the system specifically supports and is configured to perform such token-based searches or is using full-text search capabilities.

Most search and filtering systems' "contains" filter checks if a given substring or keyword occurs within a bigger text. In your case, the functionality of the filter relies on how it is applied in the system you are using if you are filtering the "notes" field with the term "User experience." Usually, for most systems running a simple "contains" filter, it will only locate notes precisely as written that include the whole text "User experience." Should you want to search for either term separately, you may have to use more complex searches or extra filters.planet clicker

Hi, I would like to know how the 'contains' filter works in filtering data. For example, if I have a string 'Online Learning' and I filter the 'description' field with it, does the filter only look for descriptions that have the exact string 'Online Learning' or does it also look for descriptions that contain the word 'Learning' or 'training' or both? strands hint

In my opinion, using a "contains" filter with the string "User experience" will, in the majority of basic implementations, search for notes that include the whole substring "User experience" in its entirety. It will not automatically find notes that contain only the words "user" or "experience" unless the system is properly designed to execute token-based searches and supports them, or unless it is using full-text search capabilities. Hope this help.
